...a renowned psychologist has called for a stronger recognition of the social nature of our worsening global addiction problem, warning that, beginning in the 19th century, western society has tried all the religious, coercive, medical, and compassionate solutions that we have on addiction but the problem is, if anything, getting worse.

On Alcohol

I start to wonder whether alcohol and I should finally go our own ways, like two old friends who've shared good times and bad, but who are no longer compatible.

I don't even know my alcohol IQ very well (I got 6 out of 10), but some of the supporting facts are, dare I say, sobering.

Are the reward pathways of our brain easily hijacked by modern stimuli, leading us to become addicted to "consumptive behaviours"?
