Bob Marley has enchanted me since the summer following his very untimely death. Too young to be very aware of him in his short prime, I discovered him during those long, languid days in my always special place.
So much could I add, and maybe will in time, but the sheer vitality of the man, brought to life so vividly in the Legend documentary is what I miss most. Poignantly, but coincidentally, I began this piece on the 40th anniversary of the premature and tragic passing of another true great from the very top of the musical pantheon.
For now, suffice to say that the downward lilt of the line ending "in the government yard in Trenchtown", has shaped me in ways that I could barely begin to explain.
Sleep well, Bob, and now and always, thank you.
