The Toltec view of fear says that a parasite lives inside your mind and chatters away the whole time, trying to distract you from doing what you would do if you had no such fear. From that perspective the parasite is fed by fear and so your mind fluctuates depending on the kind of day, week, month you are having. I am not sure it is something that I can ever really lose or rid myself of, and perhaps it is a life-long journey to greatly diminish the influence of this entity. However, I have been fortunate in that I have since been able to separate my internal voice into two separate voices - the one of fear and the one of non-fear. And I know now in any given situation which one is talking - Oxford Muse, 2005
