The 52:52:52 project, launching on this site and on social media in 2025, will help you address 52 issues with 52 responses over 52 weeks.

This site addresses what's changing, at the personal, organisational and societal levels. You'll learn about key changes across more than 150 elements of life, from ageing and time, through nature and animals, to kindness and love...and much more besides, which will help you better prepare for related change in your own life.

Halcyon In Kaleidoscope features irregular and fragmentary writings - on ideas and values, places and people - which evolve over time into mini essais, paying humble homage to the peerless founder of the genre. The kaleidoscope is Halcyon's prime metaphor, viewing the world through ever-moving lenses.

A Mundane Comedy is Dom Kelleher's new book, which will be published in 2025. The introduction is available here and further extracts will appear on this site and on social media in the coming months.

Organic Vegetable boxes

Very exciting news, I took delivery of my first organic fruit and veg. box at the weekend.  It came from Ferme Sainte Barbe and it was delivered to the home of someone in my local GAC - a group buying scheme where I live.  Quality seems fine but not really that cheap at 15 Euros. I will let you know what it is like.

Life straws

I was really delighted to read that a big design award - the Saachi design award - has gone to the people who have developed a thing called 'Life Straws'.  This is something I saw a while ago which is a potential life saver.  It is a small water filter - 25cm long which filters nearly (99%) of water borne diseases from fresh water.  They last about a year and cost 2US$.  his is a lot for the people who would be using them but nothing to those of us who could potentially buy them for the various charities on developing countries.  I am looking into how I can help supply these in the future...

One minute to make changes!

I watched a really interesting one minute podcast by the Executive Director of Sierr Club, Carl Pope, http://action.sierraclub.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=42281.0&dlv_id=40282 an environmental organisation in the US.  He said that rather than being overwhelmed by the thought of reducing CO2 emissions by 80% in 40 years time, we should think of reducing it by 2% each year.  He reiterates that this is relatively easy to do - by making the small changes I have talked about like changing light bulbs, making sure appliances are completely turned off and getting energy efficient appliances and cars.  If we start by doing all this the reductions will soon mount up...Easy peasy!

News at last!

"At last I have got the latest Verdigris newsletter sent out.  It is quite satisfying but the proof will be in the feedback I get.  A lot of people seem to be interested but I would love to get more reactions from the readers..." - Ailsa Kelleher, 2008

Christmas

Can't believe that people would want to eat fresh cherries at Christmas that have been flown half way round the world!  (BBC reporting today) I know that there are jobs to be taken into consideration for those farmers growing the fruit but really, do we need to be able to eat everything all year round?
